More Flights to Panama for Tuna Freaks from Around the Globe

Direct international flights to Tocumen Airport Panama City

Since we started traveling to Panama in April of 2021 (five trips and counting, with the next one scheduled for May of 2026, space available), we’ve seen Tocumen Airport grow. Not only is the physical plant larger and more modern, but the number of flights have also increased substantially.

We’ve chronicled the addition of direct flights from US cities including San Diego, Raleigh, Baltimore and Austin as well as additional options from cities such as Atlanta and San Francisco.

Now the international options are growing. Copa, Panama’s flagship carrier, already served as a vital stopover for many of us on the way to South American cities such as Manaus, Brazil. Now they’re adding regular international passenger and cargo services to the northern Argentina cities of Salta and Tucumán. They already serve Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Rosario, and Mendoza in that region. Argentineans who want to fish Panama will now have more options, as will those of us from North America who want to make it to the land of giant trout and golden dorado.

Condor Airlines Frankfurt to Tocumen Panama City

Furthermore, Condor Airlines and Aeroméxico returned to Tocumen in June, with direct flights to Frankfurt and Mexico City, respectively. Those two cities, like Panama City, are gateways to a wider range of origin points and destinations, effectively providing a multiplier effect.

While we don’t intend to visit Venezuela anytime soon, for those of you who live there and want to fish with us in Panama, as of May flights resumed between the two countries after a political dispute over Venezuela’s elections.

It’s never been easier to get to the tuna grounds, no matter where you start.
