A Billfish Twofer Thanks to Copa
We’re getting ready to head to Cabo for the first time in November to chase striped marlin (and other big fish). We’re hoping that it becomes a regular stop on our itinerary, much as Panama has become in recent years – we’ve visited Sport Fish Panama Island Lodge a total of five times starting in April of 2021.
In the not too distant future, you’ll be able to go from one to the other. Starting in December of this year, Copa will operate a flight three times a week between Los Cabos (SJD) and Panama’s Tocumen International airport.
Unfortunately, our next trip to Panama isn’t until May of 2026, but now I’m starting to dream about an “endless summer” billfish, tuna and roosterfish tour.
This is another great example of Panama’s incredible growth both as a destination and as a hub while heading other places. Copa has been a big part of that. The airline now serves 91 destinations across 32 countries in Central America, South America, North America, and the Caribbean. Direct flights from Europe continue to increase in frequency as well. It’s also great for those of us who want to accumulate Copa status even when we’re heading to places other than Panama.
